Descripton

Veolia has a standard library of PLC and SCADA function blocks and user interface components.

Have a standard library;

• Reduces control system implementation costs
• Reduces implementation time
• Makes control system software more reliable by using proven components
• Makes control systems consistent between multiple sites

Challanges

Implementing standardized control has had multiple challenges,

• Veolia is often required to implement client standards
• Veolia being on operations business is only infrequently building new facilities
• The business case to upgrade control system libraries is difficult
• Ownership if IP related to Veolia's legacy library was disputed

Accomplishments

Veolia now has a standard library that has now been implemented seven sites and has now been ported to two PLC platforms
